In the case of cancellation, your £40 deposit is non-refundable: this fee covers our administrative costs. All efforts will be made to re-let rooms for every night booked, and if successful, no further charges will apply. If the accommodation cannot be re-let, the following charges will apply:
Up to six weeks before the arrival date – No charge*
6 weeks to 2 weeks before arrival date – 50% of total room charges
Less than 2 weeks before arrival date – 75% of total room charges
Within one week of arrival date – 100% of total room charges
*except the £40 non-refundable deposit
COVID-19: If UK restrictions are introduced that force us to close our doors, the cancellation charges above will not apply. Your £40 per room deposit will be fully transferable to a future stay. Please note that if we are still open for business, cancellation charges will apply as above.
We strongly recommend that our guests take out travel insurance. There are a number of travel insurance firms offering cover for COVID-19 travel disruption.
Reservations are not secure until a non-refundable £40 deposit has been taken. This payment covers our administrative costs. For 2022 bookings this payment will be taken in January 2022.
Rates quoted are for Bed and Breakfast.
Double and Twin rooms, and the Master Bedroom, are not usually available for single occupancy. Nor are they let to more than two adults. Viewfield has one dedicated single room. Two further small double rooms are available for single occupancy. Please enquire before booking if you are looking for a single room and none of these three rooms is available.
Children of all ages are welcome at Viewfield. The Master bedroom has space for two extra beds (for children under 12). Please check with us before booking if you are travelling with children and the Master bedroom is not free. We do have some other bedrooms that will accommodate one extra bed or cot; however, not all are suitable. Extra beds are for the use of children aged 12 and under only. Although we do not have any interconnecting bedrooms, we do have neighbouring, or nearby double and twin rooms. If you require nearby rooms, please check prior to booking as to whether any nearby pairs are available.
The card used to make your reservation must be valid beyond the date of your stay. If your card is due to expire before your arrival, we will ask you to contact us with your new card information when you receive it.
Viewfield has rooms over three floors in the main house; there is no lift (elevator). Rooms on the top (second) floor have coombed ceilings. Two further rooms are located in the Old Stables, adjacent to the main house. Please contact us before you book if you have specific room requirements: i.e., you wish to book a room on the first floor, or you prefer a bath and separate shower.
Check-in is not until 4pm.
If you have booked a room for a stay during the winter – when the Tack Room and the Doocot are available – the full amount due for your accommodation will be charged to your card when we process your booking. The main house is closed during the winter, so winter accommodation is a much pared-down offering compared to the summer season when you have the use of the public rooms in the main house. We will often not be around to “host” you during your stay, so accommodation is only suitable for those who are happy to be self-sufficient. In the winter, rooms will not be serviced during your stay if you are here over a weekend.
